Tables by Barrattboards

Tables by Barrattboards started much the same way as Barrattboards did in general with a desire to own a piece of furniture I couldn't personally afford to buy. I had seen river tables online and was keen to own one so I decided to make my own.

In 2021 using Cornish Yew, a melamine mould and a fortunes worth of Epoxy resin I made my table. I was ecstatic with the end product, the contrasting resin colours against the orangey wood, the ombre river that changes from green to blue and the tables sturdy weight nature

Off the back of the Instagram post of my table, Bruce Rennie, a restauranteur gave me the opportunity to make seven similar tables for his restaurant 'Shore' in Penzance. After 2 months of hard work and a lot of lessons learned we made delivery of seven river tables and their adjoining steel legs. The customer was overjoyed and his customers in turn found the tables a complimentary touch to their meals.

The shore tables were a great jumping off point and before long we were sending tables all around the country even as far as Dundee in Scotland.

The Gin trap in Norfolk was our next opportunity for a whole restaurant of tables. Introduced by Ollie Bridgewater (formerly head chef of the fat duck) and presided over by MD David Lamyman we made them sixteen English Walnut table tops with varying amounts of ocean blue resin. Each table was designed to have a wavering edge with was rounded downwards. The effect was beautiful and I relished in the enjoyment of the process and the pride of seeing them complete in the restaurant.

The table area of the business is still growing having just completed perhaps the most beautiful piece so far a nearly three metre Wych Elm piece with a clear river filled with corks gathered by the client and poised on steel 'spider' legs.

I look forward to adding more additions to this page.
